PAST: This letter has meaning to me from my past because this letter was given to me from my best friend almost 6 years ago as I layed in a hospital bed recovering from surgery. This letter along with many others gave me the strength I knew I needed to survive the recovery process. The letters given to me through my recovery made me stronger, made me not want to give up. I knew I was going to fight out this battle from the very beginning, I knew that I wanted to make it through and do something with my life. Here I am 6 years later, happy and healthy and grateful to have to have letters, family, and friends for guidance and to make me want to pursue something great in order to give back to all the people in the past 6 years that have helped me. These letters gave me the push I needed to keep going, and that is what makes them so important to me, even 6 years later.
PRESENT: This is my certificate of sisterhood to my sorority, Theta Tau Omega. This is a symbol of my sisterhood, and new membership. Joining a sorority here at Bloomsburg has changed my life in so many different ways, and has also changed me as a person. I feel in charge, I want someday to hold an executive position for the sorority, because I care so much about it and want my opinions to be used for good and making the sorority better. Theta tau has taught me what it means to be apart of something, everyone always has days when they are feeling left out, and lonely. I never feel like that anymore, after being in the hospital when I was 14, I wasn't aloud to go back to playing sports, therefore I needed to find something else to do with my free time in high school. I got a job, and I really loved it and all the people I worked with. I finally feel apart of something again while I am here at school. There are so many people for you to lean on, and so many people pushing you to do what you love, that is what sisterhood and being part of a sorority means. I never met such wonderful people that support you on everything you do, and that is such an important thing to learn, and why I feel so strongly about being part of a sorority, because it truly is a great expierence and a family away from your real one.
FUTURE: I chose the Make a Wish logo because the Make a Wish foundation is a career path I plan to take one day. Ever since I was in the hospital at 14, I knew right away that I wanted to do something in life that helped people and give back to all the people that have helped me. I want someday to work for the Make a wish foundation or evenually create my own foundation for either children or familys. I want to give back and help people struggling make their wishes in life came true, and have them learn to have faith as I did when I was struggling. I always wished for brighter days, and to be healthy again and here I am. I'm so thankful for being able to live my life normally so therefore I want to help people who haven't had it as easy as I have. Therefore, I try my hardest in school with the hopes of someday having a degree that can help me to either work for this foundation or somehow be able to start my own. I think it's important to give back, and that is what I see myself doing in the future.
